Hand-made Cinema is on until the 5th of July at the Talbot Rice Gallery, and part of the McLaren 2014 celebrations which takes place at various venues until August.

The exhibition covers McLarens animated musical films. A laborious process of painting, dying and scratching film strips, combining them with synchronous sound scores results in some beautiful and mesmerising work. Of particular fascination – the horizontal, vertical and combined line work which flows across the screen allowing your eyes to add your own meaning to the forms as you slip into a meditative state.
