Inchcolm
Inchcolm Abbey from fortifications

Inchcolm Island is one of those that lie in the Firth of Forth. The oldest surviving structure on the island is a monks cell from the 12th century. The later Abbey was dedicated to St Columba who was meant to have visited in 567 CE.

During the wars concrete fortifications were erected and the Abbey converted to use for barracks. Today the island is enjoyed by tourists and the ever present wildlife. The view from the Abbey tower has fine views out to sea and back towards the 3 Forth Bridges.
