The Thyssen-Bornemisza art gallery opened in 1992 with the addition of the works collected after his death by his wife Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza in 2004. The collection is situated in the modernised Villahermosa Palace on the Paseo del Prado Viejo in Madrid. Works date from the 1400’s right up to the present day.

An eclectic collection – my favourites were the Frederic Edwin Church landscapes and the colourful works by the German Die Brücke (The Bridge) artists.
