Rufus Reade Art has made displays of Russian Icons at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the last couple of years, along with The Nomad’s Tent fringe exhibition Garden Carpets – A Glimpse of Paradise.
Over 30 wood orthodox christian icons of saints and religious festivals are displayed for sale. Following the traditions of Byzantine art the wood panels incorporate symbolic forms and colours. Halos for saints and wings for angels. The gold of heaven, blue the color of human life, the white transfiguration light of god. An exemplary opportunity to see an often overlooked art form in Scotland.
