Designed by Enrico Zuccalli to be the focal point of the formal gardens of the Schloss Schlei\u00dfheim park complex.<\/p>\n<p>The grand ground floor comprises of the elector&#8217;s and electress&#8217;s appartments and a great central double height banqueting hall with ceiling frescos by Johann Anton Gumpp, Francesco Rosa and Johann Andreas Trubillio. A basement contains\u00a0utilities and servants quarters. A belvedere on top provides a view of the surrounding countryside and down the garden canal to the New Palace.<\/p>\n<p>Today the palace houses Meissen porcelain donated by the industrialist Professor Ernst Schneider (1900-1977) and is run as a branch of the <a title=\"Bayerisches Nationalmuseum\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bayerisches-nationalmuseum.de\/index.php?id=71\" target=\"_blank\">Bavarian National Museum<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Schloss Lustheim was commissioned around 1684 by Maximilian II Emanuel for his wife, the Austrian princess Maria Antonia.
