The Art of Golf – The Story of Scotland’s National Sport is on at the Scottish National Gallery from the 12th of July until the 26th October. Initially quite sceptical that I would enjoy an exhibition on Golf, I was plesantly surprised by the quality and diversity of images on display. Historical paintings of well known figures round the tee at St Andrews and travel scenes full of details were fascinating – so many stories contained on the canvas.
Moving into the modern era the exhibition has caricatures, arial photography and video, however the highlight of the exhibition for me were the art deco railway posters featuring golfing destinations from the National Railway Museum.
