John Ruskin – Artist and Observer is on at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery until the 28th of September 2014.
The exhibition has a mixture of sketches, drawings by Ruskin alongside daguerreotypes he collected or took of the areas he visited.
While the Venetian watercolours are an established favourite with many, it is the atmospheric paintings of Switzerland that drew my eye – Lucerne and the Alps.
A beautiful book accompanies the exhibition – click on the cover for more information.
