I decided to take part in this years Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap which I found out about from the Paperphilia blog. This years theme was ‘Create’ so I selected a quote from Albert Camus, the French absurdist philosopher.
“You can not create experience you must undergo it”
Pairing it with a canvas print from one of my own recent experiences I got stitching. Blending three shades of thread to create my own embroidery floss I picked out the textures and colours of the rusting metal footplates in the photo of the Perth pedestrian bridge adjacent to the rail line.
Selecting the photo brought back many memories of the day – the unusually bright sunshine, the thunder of trains passing close by, water rushing beneath and all the while the passage of time slowly marked by the oxidation underfoot. Orange, purple, green, yellow, blue.
